魁北克市率先运用人工智能管控交通灯

魁北克市已启用网络巨头谷歌 (Google) 的人工智能 (AI) 来同步管控交通灯，政府表示此举将改善交通流量、减少拥堵及降低温室气体排放。
加拿大谷歌称，魁北克市是加拿大首个与他们的 “ 绿灯 ” 项目 (Green Light) 合作的城市。
作为该项目的一部分，人工智能会分析谷歌地图上的驾驶情况，并将这些数据配合城市交通灯的位置信息。

AI 的出现，对于处在复杂的都市交通网中的人们带来一丝希望。谷歌研究部门利用谷歌地图收集的大量交通数据，加上 AI 演算法即时分析，优化交通信号以减少不必要的停车和怠速，这些优化直接转化为车辆的低排放，减少停停走走的交通模式。
加拿大谷歌公共事务经理塞里恩 (Laurence Therrien) 强调说，人工智能数据不会取代工程师的工作，而只是作为一种补充工具。
她补充说： “ 谷歌地图提供的汇总信息，确实比手动操作或现有系统更快速、更可靠地呈现城市交通状况。 ”
“ 绿灯 ” 项目是免费提供给希望使用的城市，全球四大洲目前有 19 个城市投入使用。
