研究显示蒙特利尔最经常被警察拦截的对象

STOPMTL收集了来自公众的数据，以确定最经常被警察截停的对象及地区。该项目由国家科学研究所 (INRS)、麦吉尔大学、康考迪亚大学和伦敦大学学院的团队于 2021年发起，记录了蒙市警方在街头截停市民的数据。因为他们相信蒙特利尔市警队仅记录了5%到20%的数据。
研究小组发现，被警察拦截的对象中，年轻人和黑人所占的人数过多，远远超出白人人数。接近五分之一被截停的人为男同性恋、女同性恋或双性恋者。
虽然提交给STOPMTL的数据未经正式验证，但研究结果与蒙特利尔警队在 2019 年委托的独立研究报告中的结果一致。
STOPMTL项目负责人Carolyn Côté-Lussier 说，数据表明警方的拦截行为存在歧视。
数据并显示，大多数警察的拦截行动发生在 Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce 和 Ville-Marie区，随后是 Plateau-Mont-Royal、Sud-Ouest、Montréal-Nord 和 Villeray—Saint-Michel—Parc-Extension。
研究小组呼吁公众提交报告以收集更多数据，并监察警队在拦截方面有否作出改善。
