蒙特利尔通过限制唐人街建筑物高度

蒙特利尔市政府委员会周三（ 7 日）通过一项新计划，将唐人街的建筑物高度限制在 25 米（约八层楼）以内，唐人街将不再是摩天大楼的所在地，其历史建筑将得到保护。
执行委员会负责城市规划的博德里 (Robert Beaudry) 说，他们在社区的要求下迅速行动。
“ 对于蒙特利尔的唐人街来说，这是美好的一天。 ”
除了高度限制外，还有几座建筑将获得遗产地位，包括位于 Côté 街 991 号的前自由长老会教堂以及位于 Chenneville 街 1030 号的加拿大软木切割公司。该计划还扩大了指定为唐人街的区域： Bleury 、 St-Urbain 、 Viger 及 René-Lévesque 四条街包围的地区。
唐人街是原城墙外最古老的城区。在 18 世纪被称为 Près-de-ville ，当时它就在城墙的城门外，成为接连不断的移民潮的家园。
唐人街的建筑遗产过去很少受到关注。直到最近，当高端公寓的开发商购买了附近的几个街区时，倡导人士才对历史地标被夷为平地的可能性发出了警告。
