Westmount市长宣布新一届市选不寻求连任

Westmount市长史密斯(Christina Smith，图)上周宣布将不会参加11月举行的市选。
在市政府政治领域工作了 12 年并担任了 8 年市长后，史密斯在该市网站上的一份声明中表示已准备好辞职。
史密斯接受媒体访问时表示很荣幸为社区服务，她觉得现在是时候将火炬传递给新人。
史密斯说在任职期间，她专注于促进公民参与，并优先考虑改善 Westmount 的基础设施。她在声明中写道为Westmount的道路、公园和公共建筑的改善感到自豪，她说这些改进“都是在居民的积极参与下精心设计的”。
史密斯说她希望下一届政府能够为推动城市前进做出贡献，而不是“因为他们对自行车道等事情感到愤怒”而投身竞选。
史密斯说她虽然不会参加11月的市选，但在未来几个月“仍有许多工作要做”，例如解决住房危机和振兴该市的东南区，她说该地区尚未开发。
她补充说，下届政府将要处理“重大”基础设施债务。
