总理卡尼承诺下任加拿大总督 “绝对”精通法语和英语

加拿大总理卡尼接受加拿大广播公司（ Radio-Canada ）采访时表示，加拿大下一任总督将精通法语和英语。
当电台主持人问及卡尼是否会承诺提名一位能说加拿大两种官方语言的候选人时，卡尼回答 “ 绝对会 ” 。
现任总督西蒙 (Mary Simon) 会说英语和因纽特语，但尽管学习过法语，她的法语仍然不够流利。
西蒙由于法语水平有限而饱受批评。 2021 年她的任命引发了超过 1300 起向加拿大官方语言专员提出的投诉。
总督的任期通常为五年，这意味西蒙的任期可能在 2026 年结束。
卡尼拒绝猜测谁会接替西蒙。西蒙是加拿大历史上首位担任总督的原住民。
