迫使杜鲁多辞职的方慧兰 (Chrystia Freeland ，图 ) ，周二 (16 日 ) 宣布辞去内阁部長一职，改任乌克兰特使。
方慧兰在社交媒体上写道： “ 怀着无比感激和些许伤感，我决定今天离开内阁，翻开我人生的新篇章。 ” 她並表示不打算参加下届联邦选举。
方慧兰拥有乌克兰血统，能说流利的乌克兰语。她上周末与前总理克理纯一同访问了基辅。

方慧兰曾担任过杜鲁多政府的财政和外交部长，在三月份的自由党党魁选举中以大比数输给卡尼，但卡尼仍让她留在内阁。
许多自由党人认为，是方慧兰迫使杜鲁多辞职并举行党魁选举。
去年十二月，在杜鲁多试图用前加拿大央行和英格兰银行行长卡尼取代她后，方慧兰在原定发表 2024 年秋季经济报告的当天突然辞职。
当时卡尼没有接受杜鲁多的提议，这导致自由党内部要求杜鲁多辞职并举行党魁选举的压力大增。
