加拿大国会议员女性比例不足三分之一 国际排名大幅下滑

有报告显示，加拿大过去 25 年来在政治权利的性别平等方面，国际排名大幅下降。
根据国际议会联盟 (Inter-Parliamentary Union) 最新的排名，加拿大女性在国会中所占比例，在各国中排第 71 位，较 2000 年时第 28 位明显下滑。
加拿大国会众议院中的女议员，占整体不到三分之一，倡议团体知情视角 (Informed Perspectives) 的代表格雷登 (Shari Graydon) 表示，各大政党是时候要效法部分国家已经采取的措施，例如设性别配额，或进行选举制改革。

尽管总理卡尼提到，其当选国会议员的自由党团中，近 40% 是女性，但倡议团体认为这样还不足够。
“ 繁荣计划 ”(The Prosperity Project) 的负责人肖尔 (Julie Savard-Shaw) 表示，获得托儿服务和能够在家工作，对于女性在私营企业和政府部门发展事业至关重要。
联邦自由党国会议员 Chi Nguyen 也表示，公众的骚扰行为和国会中一些苛刻的言论，对鼓励女性出任公职造成障碍。
