大规模拘捕示威者 蒙特利尔赔600万元并道歉

司法部刚刚批准蒙特利尔市向 2011年至2015年期间在街头大规模逮捕的数千名示威者支付总额600万元赔偿。
赔偿涉及16项集体诉讼，其中有些诉讼已经拖延数年。大多数诉讼与2012年的学生罢课有关。
高等法院法官希恩(Martin Sheehan)在上周的裁决中总结道：“在每个案例中，原告都声称蒙特利尔市警察侵犯了示威者的基本权利，并对他们造成了伤害。”裁决认为赔偿协议是公平、公正，符合各方的利益。
蒙特利尔市政府与涉案律师之间的和解于去年秋天达成，但必须得到法院的批准。
最终，在支付了涉案律师的费用后，每名抗议者将获得约1500元的赔偿，而且得到政府的道歉。
其中一名代表原告的律师切特里 (Marc Chétrit)说：“我们为此努力了十年，我的客户对和解协议感到满意。”
