前来蒙特利尔欣赏一级方程式大奖赛的游客，若仍未预订住宿，势必要支付高昂的费用，因为Airbnb的租金在暴涨。
以蒙特利尔市中心的一套公寓为例，价格上涨了接近六倍。
在6月16日至18日的大赛车期间，根据 5 月下旬在Airbnb平台上进行的搜索，这间带两张大床的公寓，一个人的预订估计为每晚 3千元。
加上服务费、清洁费和税项，账单金额可能高达 8,148元。然而，在6月9日至11日的周末，同一住宿的一晚价格为每晚 450元，周末的总费用约为1,278元。
该公寓的业主表示价格差异是由于大奖赛所造成，并且每年都会增加。事实上，其他公寓也是同样状况。
由于蒙特利尔的大部分酒店房间都已被预订，许多赛车爱好者开始转向Airbnb平台寻找住宿。
周三早上被问到会否干预住宿价格暴涨时，蒙特利尔市长普兰特(Valérie Plante)回应说这是资本主义制度的基础规则。她辩称市政府没有“干预市场的机制或权力”。
