杜鲁多任命加拿大首位女性驻华大使

加拿大总理杜鲁多周五（23日）任命Jennifer May（上图）为驻华大使，是加拿大首位派驻北京的女性大使。
她最近于2019年被任命为加拿大驻巴西大使，之前曾在加拿大驻欧洲、拉丁美洲和亚洲的外交使团中任职，包括在北京。她于1990年加入外交部。
杜鲁多赞扬她有丰富外交经验及深入了解亚洲，相信她能处理好加中双边关系和推进加拿大在中国的利益。
May早年曾派驻北京、香港及曼谷工作，在2000年至2004年期间担任加拿大驻华大使馆一等秘书，能说流利普通话。
加拿大前驻华大使鲍达民去年底卸任后，大使一职一直悬空。
本国有人批评驻华大使悬空超过大半年，反映杜鲁多政府对加中关系管理不善，亦有外交人士认为加拿大正在制定印太战略，任命驻华大使非常重要。
