魁省男子涉嫌海地发动政变 被控恐怖主义罪

加拿大皇家骑警称，魁省Lévis一名男子面临恐怖主义指控，据称他计划实施恐怖主义行为推翻海地的Jovenel Moïse政府。
皇家骑警在周四（17日）的新闻发布会上说，51 岁的尼古拉斯（Gérald Nicolas）采取了“具体行动”，包括前往海地协调一群意图参与政变推翻政府的人。
尼古拉斯面临三项指控，包括离开加拿大为推动恐怖活动、为恐怖活动提供便利以及为恐怖目的提供财产。
皇家骑警表示这些指控源于国家安全综合执法小组的调查。
这项于2021年7月开始的调查显示，据称尼古拉斯计划在海地发动武装革命并最终夺取政权。
调查人员认为尼古拉斯早在 2020 年 1 月就开始策划他的计划。
皇家骑警中士Charles Poirier 表示，尼古拉斯设法前往海地、中美洲和南美洲的几个国家招募人员以获得一些资金及武器，但没有成功。
Poirier 说，这项调查与 2021 年 7 月对 Jovenel Moïse 的暗杀事件无关。
尼古拉斯预计将于12月1日在魁北克市出庭。
