加拿大邮政工人临近节日前开始罢工 邮递服务中断

加拿大邮政工人工会（ CUPW ）宣布， 55,000 名员工东部时间周五 (15 日 ) 凌晨 12:01 开始正式罢工。
加拿大邮政在一份新闻稿中表示， “ 罢工期间，邮件和包裹将无法处理或投递，一些邮局将关闭 ” 。 “ 已经进入邮政网络的物品的服务保证将受到影响。在全国性罢工结束之前，不会接受新的物品。 ”
此外，加拿大邮政警告说，劳工中断将进一步加剧其本已严重的财务问题。自新冠疫情以来，竞争激烈的包裹递送市场给加拿大邮政带来了更大的挑战。
加拿大邮政指出， “ 全国范围内关闭设施将影响加拿大邮政的整个网络 ” 。 “ 处理和递送可能需要一些时间才能完全恢复正常。 ”
邮政工人工会表示，劳资双方新一份合约谈判已持续一年，但都没有进展，工会要求加薪及改善其他福利。
劳资双方在午夜罢工限期前，未能达成新一份临时合约协议，因此工会发动罢工。
在罢工最后期限之前，联邦劳工部长 Steven MacKinnon 表示，他已正式任命联邦调解与和解服务局局长为特别调解员，协助进行谈判。
