蒙特利尔接连遭到雪暴吹袭，周日 (16 日 ) 预计又有或高达 40 厘米降雪，许多房主都在担心房屋结构是否能支撑屋顶上的积雪重量。
建筑专家布罗索 (Sylvain Brosseau) 表示，大家若听到房屋有不寻常的开裂或吱吱声，门窗出现摩擦或卡住，墙壁或天花板出现裂缝、鼓起或翘起，在这个时候便要小心注意。
这位专家指出，所有这些迹象都可能是屋顶超负荷的警告信号。
一般来说，布罗索表示当积雪达到约两英尺（即近 60 厘米）时，大家应该特别注意房屋结构。

如果要自己动手清理屋顶上的积雪，布罗索称没有必要爬上屋顶或爬上梯子。
他说大家可以使用伸缩铲 (Roof Rake) ，把屋顶边缘的 2-3 尺积雪铲掉，不要试图把所有积雪移除。
